dominion harvest inspired meal #13: jerusalem...
a twist on traditional gnocchi. i replaced a little over half of the potato quantity you would use for regular gnocchi with jerusalem artichoke - a root vegetable that looks like ginger but tastes like an artichoke heart. i roasted the jerusalem artichoke and scooped out the flesh and mixed it with roasted potato flesh and some flour and egg. rolled it into the right shape, boiled the gnocchi,...
it’s funny what the mind and the heart do when one is alone. what is dwelled on. what is longed for. thinking about the people you’re not with and what they are doing, and wondering if they are happy. thinking about people who were once so in your life and now are not, and wondering the same. wondering if they miss you too. wondering when you will not be alone anymore [even if...

While driving home through the snow, I realized that this weather raises the level of need and appreciation for the important people in your life.

“at this very moment, my entire heart does not have even a hint of thirst after my acceptance by God. i am alone with Him and He fills every void. i do not have one wish, one will, or one desire, except in Him. He has set my feet in His large room. and i am in awe, standing amazed that He has conquered everything within me, through His love.”

green bean casserole [from scratch]
so this is delayed and isn’t dominion harvest inspired, but i am so proud of my green bean casserole that i made on thanksgiving that i had to post it. i made homemade cream of mushroom soup with oyster, shiitake, and cremini mushrooms, homemade fried onions [they were WAY better than the canned ones] and french cut two pounds of green beans by hand [with the help of joan]. it was the best...
intimate and honest and raw and real time of prayer without inhibition and without routine is so exhilarating and heart opening and can turn a day [and so much more] around.

i’ve decided to try weaning myself off of caffeine. don’t know why i am doing this now when i haven’t slept through the night since i got back from california, and it’s my first week back at work after a long vacation, but something must be done. i’ve been averaging around 3 cups of coffee a day… so i am trying to switch from coffee to mostly tea, and...
